Hey there! My name is Kevin and I am the founder of Florida Vacation Advisor.
I run this website together with my wife Sara and our goal is simple: Share all the things we know and research we do about family vacations in Florida.

Sara and I have been living in Baltimore, Maryland for the past 15 years. We have two, highly energetic boys that spend most of their home time running after each other shirtless around the house.

Family travel in Florida

While we love our community and the life in the suburbs of Baltimore, we quickly realized that Florida is the perfect state for our family vacations for several reasons:

  • It’s in the US – No passport required. No additional health coverage, car insurance or other special arrangement
  • It’s relatively close to Maryland.
  • Flights are usually not expensive
  • The weather is great if you choose the right season

We have been to many different places in Florida like Sarasota, Siesta Key, Miami, Amelia Island, Space Coast, Orlando and more.

As you can see we usually prefer the beach experience which we find more to be best for our family.

Because of the affordability of this type of vacation, we are able to go to Florida at least once a year almost every year for the past 12 years or so.

We did it as a couple, with one child and even now, with two kids (two energetic boys in case you forgot).

After traveling to Florida so many time, we know when is the best time to go (did you know Christmas morning is cheaper?) and how to find the best things to do in Florida.

  8. I like to solve problem. Although my wife would prefer I would just listen.
